Machinery

Main Engine:

Open inverted steam compound reciprocating engine. Built 1919 by Plenty & Sons Ltd. Newbury. 8" and 16" bore by 8" stroke. 75 indicated horse power. Complete with engine driven feed and air pumps and surface condenser.

Auxiliaries

i) Single cylinder steam circulating engine by Mumford & Co.

ii) General service 'banjo' style steam pump for boiler feed and bilge pumping. By Mumford & Co.

Boiler:

The original boiler was made by Ruston Hornsby Ltd and would have been almost identical to the current boiler

The current boiler is a coal fired single furnace return flue 'Scotch' style by Alexander Anderson, Motherwell. Working pressure, 120 P.S.I. (This boiler came from HSL 301 'Kathleen' of 1942)
